Since all government organizations, businesses and charities need to market their brand and advertise what they do, gaining a marketing degree will open the door to working in pretty much any organization in the world. Not bad for a single degree!

Here in the business administration division of Dominican University, our motto is Doing Business Right. This means we not only teach you how to successfully market your own brand and those of your clients/employers, we also focus on teaching you how to do business in a way that improves our world — a skill set that’s increasingly in demand as consumers become more interested in sustainable and ethical business practices.

No matter whether you’re interested in pursuing a marketing major or minor, Dominican University has developed an engaging marketing program that’s jam-packed with critical theory and real-world, practical applications. For example, you’ll undertake at least one marketing internship throughout your studies, so you can actually do some marketing activities and build useful industry contacts. And you’ll learn from phenomenal guest speakers and marketing professors who’ve held positions like Chief Marketing Officer in a large corporation and can teach you highly marketable skills that will help you stand out when you’re seeking employment.

Many of our classes are taught on-campus. However, if you’ve got other commitments, you’ll have the opportunity to take online marketing courses and evening classes that you can easily fit into your busy schedule.

Of course, going to a university isn’t just about academics, so we’ve made sure all our students get the support they need to succeed with their course while also having heaps of fun along the way. If you choose Dominican University, you’ll have the opportunity to join any of a wide range of clubs, really flex your athletic muscles, and take advantage of everything the nearby New York has to offer.

A career in marketing can be truly rewarding and lucrative, and a Dominican University marketing degree will prepare you for a successful and fulfilling career while also giving you a great university experience.

Doing Marketing Right

Dominican University’s Bachelor of Science in Marketing promotes our motto of ‘Doing Business Right’ – by which we mean that at Dominican University business students are taught how to be successful while also making the world a better place.

When it comes to marketing, we believe an ethical approach is especially critical today when modern technologies collect so much personal data on consumers. Avoiding unethical practices, however, is just the start. Effective marketing can also be a powerful tool to promote causes ranging from sustainability to justice. We teach our students to be creative and to use marketing as a positive force in business and in our society. This is what we consider “Doing Marketing Right.”

Job Opportunities

All organizations need marketing. Governments need to convince the public they’re doing a good job and should be re-elected. Charities need to encourage donations. And all businesses need to sell their products and services. Plus, all organizations need to communicate with their internal and external stakeholders to ensure their organization runs efficiently and as effectively as possible. So, gaining a marketing degree will open an incredibly large number of job opportunities no matter what industry you’re interested in working in.

Here are some examples of the kinds of roles you could secure with a marketing degree:

  • Editor
  • Content writer
  • Technical writer
  • Copywriter
  • Public relations manager
  • Advertising manager
  • Marketing strategist
  • Marketing manager
  • Chief marketing officer

What You’ll Learn

Throughout our marketing program, you’ll learn critical marketing skills. For example, you’ll learn how to:

  • Analyze and create strategic marketing plans
  • Engage with clients and prospects through all forms of digital and analog media
  • Perform successful market research that uncovers client needs and desires
  • Effectively make presentations of all types, from formal presentations to elevator pitches
  • Plan, execute and measure the performance of advertising and social media campaigns

You’ll also develop vital, in-demand soft skills and build a solid foundation of broader knowledge through a variety of liberal arts courses.
